Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults.

Who needs to know Mental Health First Aid?

Employers, police officers, hospital staff, educators, first responders, caring individuals. Anyone!

This course will teach you how to apply the MHFA Action Plan(ALGEE):

  • Assess for risk of suicide or harm.
  • Listen non-judgementally
  • Give reassurance and information
  • Encourage appropriate professional Help
  • Encourage self-help and other support strategies

Learning Objectives:

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.
  • Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
  • How to interact with a person in crisis.
  • How to connect a person with help.
  • Expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care.

Diana Lopez, Esq.

Diana Lopez

Diana Lopez has been a leader in the non-profit sector for over 20 years and has been a certified instructor of Mental Health First Aid for over 10 years. She began her career by supporting and advocating for people and communities impacted by major disasters across the country and currently provides hope and support for critically ill children and their families. Diana is experienced in trauma-informed program development, project management, and advocacy for families in crisis. Her career focus is to create and implement empowering methods of service provision for underserved populations with a focus on equity and inclusion. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and was admitted to the New York State Bar.

Cancellation Policy

Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made seven working days or fewer before the event for any reason—or for no-shows. We can provide credit towards a future workshop up to 24 hours before the event. After that, no credit will be issued.
