About the Speaker
Katie Deitz is the Programs Manager for the Long Island Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention where she oversees the chapter’s educational programing and loss and healing initiatives. She partners with local communities, organizations, and workplaces to bring suicide prevention education to the Long Island community, working to create a culture that is smart about mental health.
Prior to getting involved with AFSP, Katie earned her Master’s degree from Wheelock College in Boston and spent 5 years working as a certified child life specialist at a children’s hospital on Long Island, where she provided psychosocial support to children and families undergoing hospitalization. Originally from the Capital Region of New York, she currently resides in Rockaway Beach.
This event is part of National Public Health Week at Adelphi University.
