Join Health Educators from Stony Brook Cancer Center to learn about breast cancer.

In the United States, breast cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related deaths in females. This presentation will cover essential topics such as risk factors, early detection, and screening options.

Speaker

Ashley Cervino is a Health Educator with the Stony Brook Cancer Center Community Outreach and Engagement team. This role allows her to educate Long Island about the importance of cancer screening and risk reduction. She works with various community partners to tailor and provide cancer education. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Stony Brook University, teaching in the Health Sciences major with a focus in Public Health. Ashley has a master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health, earned at Stony Brook University. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Her previous positions within the field include work with Project HOPE, a COVID-19 federal grant program and a breast cancer organization promoting self-advocacy.

This event is part of National Public Health Week at Adelphi University.
