YES Community Counseling Center is excited to sponsor the play Addicted: Alex’s Story which highlights the character of Alex, a 24 -year -old male who is struggling with an addiction to heroin. Alex turns to heroin in an attempt to cope with difficult emotions and ends up in the destructive path of addiction. His story not only highlights the devastating impact that heroin has had on his own life but also reveals the impact it has had on his relationships with loved ones. These characters give the audience an honest inside look at the complexities and emotional turmoil involved with addiction.

Addicted: Alex’s Story uses a multi-media approach. The story is told using a combination of film, music, and live acting, allowing the writer to showcase the storyline in a powerful way that is sure to hold audience attention.

Addicted: Alex’s Story provides an experience that focuses on prevention and awareness by explaining the addiction process and showcasing the consequences that result in one’s choices. The play also attempts to break stigma and provide the audience with empathy , compassion and understanding for those struggling with addiction.

This play is presented by YES Community Counseling Center and the Adelphi University Student Counseling Center.
