The Hagedorn Lecture Series on Corporate Social Responsibility is a preeminent Adelphi event.

This year, we would like to focus on “Making the Business Case for Health Equity” by bringing together a panel of experts from the major health systems and community-based healthcare organizations that serve Long Island to discuss how health equity can lead to improved outcomes and a market advantage.

Together, alongside moderator Alan Cooper, PhD ’95, clinical professor for the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, they will explore important topics like healthy equity and why it is important, barriers to achieving healthy equity and how organizations can align health equity initiatives with their organizational goals and strategies.

About the Speakers

Leonard Achan ’99, RN, MA, ANP

Leonard Achan

President & CEO of LiveOnNY

Achan was appointed President & CEO of LiveOnNY, the federally designated organ procurement organization (OPO) based in Long Island City, in November 2021. Since taking the helm at LiveOnNY, the organization has experienced a 50% increase in organ and tissue donation over the last two years. Having started his career as an ICU Nurse in 1999 at Mount Sinai Hospital, Achan is a veteran healthcare executive with 20+ years of leadership experience. He previously served as the President of the Hospital for Special Surgery’s Innovation Institute. His leadership roles have spanned clinical, operational, marketing, communications, crisis management, digital transformation, branding, and innovation and he has served in several C-suite roles. Achan serves on several boards, including the Nassau County NY Board of Trustees at Adelphi University and the Federation of Organizations.

Larry Eisenstein, MD, MPH, FACP

Chief Public and Community Health Officer, Catholic Health

Lawrence Eisenstein, MD, MPH, FACP, is Vice President and Chief Public and Community Health Officer for Catholic Health on Long Island. Prior to joining Catholic Health in August of 2022, Dr. Eisenstein served as Commissioner of Health for the Nassau County Department of Health, Mineola, New York for more than 11 years. Dr. Eisenstein also served as President of the New York State Association of County Health Officials (NYSACHO,) and he was on their Board of Directors for 9 years.

Dr. Eisenstein is Board Certified in Infectious Diseases through the American Board of Internal Medicine. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency, Chief Residency, and Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY. Dr. Eisenstein began his Medical Education at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara before finishing it at New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY. He also earned his Master of Public Health degree from New York Medical College.

Dr. Eisenstein has a long commitment to training the next generation in medicine and public health. He was Assistant Adjunct professor at Hofstra University’s Department of Health Professions and Kinesiology from 2011-2022. Dr. Eisenstein continues to serve as Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Family, Population & Preventive Medicine, State University of New York at Stony Brook (since 2011.)

Dr. Eisenstein has presented numerous grand rounds, guest lectures, keynote speeches, and television, newspaper, and other media interviews. He has received numerous honors, awards, and accolades including being named the Bellmore Herald’s Person of the Year in 2020, and leading the Nassau County Department of Health to the “Health Department of the Year Award” as given by the National Association of County and City Health Officials in 2018. Dr. Eisenstein was named to the New York State Ending the Epidemic Taskforce, and following Superstorm Sandy Dr. Eisenstein was able to serve his community by being appointed by the Governor as Community Rising Co-Chairman for the Bellmore/Merrick community. He continues to live in Bellmore, NY with his wife and daughters.

Andres Jimenez

Andres Jimenez, MD, MSEd, MBA, MS

Chief Medical Information Officer, HealthPrevent360

Dr. Andres Jimenez is a board-certified physician and serial health-tech entrepreneur dedicated to advancing healthcare through innovation. He developed software used in over 3,000 hospitals and clinics, including some of the largest and most prestigious U.S. health systems. Dr. Jimenez ran his first company for 10 years, focusing on physician behavior change, and impacted over one-third of all U.S. physicians. He later co-founded a revenue cycle AI company, which was acquired by CorroHealth, a Carlyle-backed company with 6,000 employees, where he served as Chief Medical Information Officer post-acquisition.

Dr. Jimenez then transitioned from the scientific advisory board to Chief Medical Information Officer of a digital health company spun out of Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Environmental and Public Health. As the founding physician for their clinical practice, which operated in two states, he supported the team through product launch and their eventual IPO on the London Exchange. An alumnus of Dartmouth, Brown, and Cornell, Dr. Jimenez is passionate about empowering healthcare professionals to innovate and improve patient care.

Currently, Dr. Jimenez serves as co-founder and Chief Medical Information Officer for HealthPrevent360, a company democratizing longevity through prevention and AI. Launched in 2024, the clinic is already serving over 10,000 patients in New York City. Having grown up just a stone’s throw from Adelphi Business School, Dr. Jimenez feels blessed to return to Long Island with his wife and three children, and is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Adelphi academic community.
