Student Experiences

A trip I will never forget in my lifetime. We had an amazing group of students and chaperones and we were all like missing pieces of a puzzle that came together. These memories will last a lifetime and so will the friendships I made.

Matthew Soohan Sophomore

My experience in Tobago was unlike any other Alternative Break I have experienced. It was interesting to understand how the animal shelter, with very little resources, was able to get the job done and do what they needed to do. It was interesting to learn that the country is trying to do what they can for their community, even with very little funding to keep these resources running. The memories created with our group are priceless and everlasting.

Before this Alternative Break, I had not done community service in a really long time. This volunteer trip helped me realize it’s never too late to start up again!

Tonantzin Martinez Sophomore

It is extremely important to step out of your comfort zone and see what’s out there, and see how you are able to help others in need. It makes you realize that everybody’s lifestyles are different. One thing I will always remember is the smiles and greetings that the natives gave us each day.
