Greek Life Honor Societies
The Center for Student and Community Engagement offers those members in Greek organizations who excel in academics, leadership and service several opportunities to gain recognition into national honor societies.
Gamma Sigma Alpha
Gamma Sigma Alpha is the national honor society for members of Greek-lettered organizations who have achieved academic excellence. Students are eligible for membership based on a grade point average of 3.5 or higher at the start of their junior year or a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in any semester during their junior or senior year. Also, the student needs to be an active member of their Greek fraternity or sorority. There is also a one-time membership fee of $45 that includes certificate, honor cords, and pin.
Order of Omega
Order of Omega is a highly selective National Leadership Honor Society for members of fraternities and sororities. The Adelphi University chapter of the Order of Omega will have one application period in the fall semester. The minimum eligibility requirements for students to apply must be either a junior or a senior (completion of at least 60 credits) with a grade point average of 3.3 or higher. The chapter will select up to 15 new members annually. New members are encouraged to apply, however, preference will be given to individuals with more than one semester of active membership based on eligibility. There is also a one-time membership fee of $65 that includes certificate, honor cords, and pin.
Rho Lambda
Rho Lambda is a National Sorority Leadership Recognition Society that was created to honor women within the sorority community who have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership and service to their Greek community and their sonority at Adelphi University. Active females in their junior or senior year with an overall grade point average of 2.5 are eligible to apply. There is also a one-time membership fee of $45 that includes certificate, honor cords, and pin.
