Palliative Care
This certificate program, consisting of a series of workshops offered throughout the year, will prepare you to provide high-quality, evidence-based palliative care to individuals across the adult lifespan and in all settings, as part of an interdisciplinary team.
The program is offered exclusively to registered nurses (RNs and APRNs).
Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to provide medical care and emotional support that manages symptoms, relieves pain and discomfort and improves quality of life for patients with life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
Each two-week, online workshop is, led by experts in this field, and requires approximately six
hours of work across two weeks. You and your instructors and classmates will interact asynchronously — so there are no required class meetings on specific days and times.
Workshops are offered throughout the year and may be taken in any order. To earn a certificate, individuals must complete any six of the seven workshops in the program. Partcipants are awarded a digital badge for each workshop completed.
In addition to the CPCS Certificates/Badges, The College of Nursing and Public Health will issue Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit for all individual workshops. For each workshop, participants will earn six (6) Continuing Education Units through Adelphi University’s College of Nursing and Public Health, an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Northeast Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s
Commission on Accreditation.
In order to satisfactorily complete any workshop, it is required that all assignments, discussions, etc. must be completed by the due date indicated by the instructors of each workshop.
