Micro-Internship Information for Employers
Employers have the option of posting both paid and unpaid micro-internships through Parker Dewey or Handshake.
Paid Micro-Internships will be posted on Adelphi’s page on the Parker Dewey site. You will set up an account and fill out a profile, including naming Adelphi University as your alma mater if you are an alumni.
How to Post a Paid Micro-Internship on Parker Dewey
- Access the Parker Dewey Adelphi site
- Create an account or sign in
- After you’ve created an account or signed in on the Parker Dewey Adelphi site, click on For Prospective Employers and then click on the link below it, Click here to learn more. If you are a part of Adelphi’s alumni, please make sure to add Adelphi into the box asking you for your originating college.
- Fill out and Submit the form
How to Post an Unpaid Micro-Internship on Handshake
- Access Handshake
- If you have an account, click on sign in with your email address.
- If you do not have an account, click on Sign up here in the upper right-hand corner.
- Click Are you an employer? Sign up here
- If you’re signing up for the first time, you can answer some questions to help describe you and your company (be sure to select Adelphi University for your Alma Mater if you’re an alumni). The more information you provide, the more a student will have to go on when making a decision to apply.After completion, you’ll be taken to the Handshake home page. Begin entering as many Micro-Internship projects as you wish and maintain them as you desire. Once posted, there is a url for the internship listing that we can then very effectively use to market to students.
A few notes on posting Micro-Internships on Handshake:
Under Postings on the left-hand side of the main page, click on Jobs and then Create Job in the upper right-hand corner. Then use the following posting parameters.
Basics
- Where should students submit their application? – Apply in Handshake
- Job Title – Please make sure to have the words “Micro-Internship” noted somewhere in the posting title! This will allow our students to more easily search for such specifically designated projects.
- Job Type – Internship
- Employment Type – Part-Time
- Duration – Temporary / Seasonal
Type in the project start and end dates for the Micro-Internship
Details
- Fill in the fields as applicable. The Job Role field may be important in matching student skills with the Micro-Internship, so pick the appropriate role(s) as desired.
- Approximate Salary – Unpaid
- Job Location – A location is required, so enter the city or town that is the location of the business. This will not obligate you in any way to require the student to work from there.
- Allow Remote Workers – Check this box to activate the Micro-Internship as an online remote project.
- Does this position require U.S. work authorization? – No (since the Micro-Internship being posted is unpaid, international students can qualify to compete for them. Schools
- Make sure to link this posting to Adelphi University and fill in the Apply start date and Expiration date.
