Scholar Awards

The AIESEP Young Scholar Award was established in 2001 by former AIESEP Board Member Eitan Eldar (Isreal). The intent of the award is to support the participation of early career scholars at AIESEP events and to recognise their scholarly promise.

Eligibility is confined to those members who plan to or have recently embarked on careers as researchers. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the Young Scholar Award during their graduate studies or early years of post graduation (up to three years post PhD).

Applicants must be members of AIESEP. Award recipients receive a waiver of their registration fees and formal recognition at a given AIESEP Congress/Conference.

Application Process

Applicants must submit the following documentation, via email, to Tristan Wallhead at wallhead@uwyo.edu no later than the deadline for abstract submission of the given AIESEP Congress/Conference:

1. CV (max 10 pages),
2. One-page description of intention for future involvement in AIESEP and sport pedagogy research,
3. Proof of study (if still in doctoral studies),
4. Abstract of submitted presentation, and
5. A letter of recommendation from an AIESEP member in good standing (scanned).

Obligations

Those receiving the AIESEP Young Scholar Award will be obligated to

(a) deliver a presentation (oral or poster) at the given AIESEP Congress/Conference and
(b) participate in any events scheduled for AIESEP Young Scholars at the given Congress/Conference.

Number of Awards

The number of approved awards depends on the specific yearly budget and will not exceed five per congress/conference.

Developing Country Scholar Award

The Internationalization Committee of AIESEP would like to announce the award winner for The AIESEP Developing Country Scholar Award at the Conference at Adelphi University, NYC in June 2019: Luiza Lana Gonçalves, University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.

On behalf of the AIESEP Board we would like to congratulate Luiza. We look forward to meeting her and hearing her presentation at the AIESEP conference at Adelphi University in June. This was a very competitive international award. There were eight applicants from seven different countries.

The AIESEP Developing Country Scholar Award is a new award established in 2018 by AIESEP Board Members: Ben Dyson (New Zealand), Uwe Pühse ( Switzerland) and Chin-wei-Chang (Taiwan). The intent of the award is to support a scholar from a developing country to attend an AIESEP conference in order to recognize their scholarly work and create stronger connections between AIESEP and developing countries. Eligibility is confined to faculty members located in a developing country. The research to be presented at AIESEP should be grounded in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy and be situated within a developing country. All researchers from developing countries are encouraged to apply.

Application Process

Applicants must submit the following documentation, via email, to Ben Dyson at: bpdyson@uncg.edu no later than the deadline for abstract submission of the given AIESEP Congress/Conference:

1. CV
2. One-page description of intention for future involvement in AIESEP Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy research
3. Evidence that a research study was conducted in a developing country, and
4. Copy of abstract submitted to AIESEP Conference website, (https://aiesep2019.adelphi.edu/).
5. A letter of recommendation from a senior researcher or an AIESEP member in good standing (scanned).

Obligations

Those receiving the AIESEP Developing Country Scholar Award will be obligated to

(a) deliver a presentation (oral or poster) at the given AIESEP Congress/Conference and
(b) participate in any events scheduled for AIESEP Developing Country Scholar Award at the given Congress/Conference.

Award Details

Based on the budget one award is available per congress/conference.

The award is intended to partially cover travel costs from a developing country to an AIESEP congress/conference. The value will be approximately $1,500.USD (depending on the exchange rate). The AIESEP Board has agreed to waive the award recipient’s registration fee for the AIESEP conference and one-year membership in AIESEP.
