The following 2025-2026 merit-based awards are renewed each year and are subject to the terms and conditions outlined for each award.

First-Year Student Awards

As a new incoming first-year student, you are automatically considered for academic merit-based scholarships upon acceptance to Adelphi University. If you are eligible, you’ll receive a scholarship letter from the Office of University Admissions.

To maximize your eligibility for financial aid, first-year students are encouraged to file the FAFSA before the priority deadline of March 1, 2025.

Academic Awards for First-Year Students

Academic (merit) scholarships are awarded to new entering full-time first-year students with exceptional academic achievement. Eligibility depends upon demonstrating notable academic potential through high school performance and standardized testing (if submitted).

Range of awards: Awards range from $10,000-$33,000 per year for full-time (12+ credits) incoming first-year students.

For full-time (12+ credits) entering new first-year students whose profiles meet the requirements for an academic award and who demonstrate exceptional talent in theatre, dance, art, music or communications. You must audition or submit a portfolio for the department of your chosen major, and a declared major in your talent area is required to be eligible for a combination award.

Range of awards: Combination awards are based upon the individual’s audition or portfolio review and academic record. Both academics and talent are carefully considered in determining the combined awards.

The Honors College Scholarship is offered to newly admitted full-time (12+ credits) first-time first-year students who are accepted into the Honors College. This scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding achievements and will supplement other scholarships and awards for which you are eligible.

Range of awards: The award is $3,000 per year and may be combined with other scholarships and/or grant awards not to exceed tuition and fees. Students must remain enrolled in the Honors College to keep this award.

The Levermore Global Scholars Award is offered to newly admitted full-time (12+ credits) first-time first-year students who are accepted into the Levermore Global Scholars Program. This scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding achievements and will supplement other scholarships and awards for which you are eligible.

Range of awards: The award is $3,000 per year and may be combined with other scholarships and/or grant awards not to exceed tuition and fees. Students must remain enrolled in the Levermore Global Scholars program to keep this award.

Recognition Awards for First-Year Students

These awards are available for first-year students who have achieved either the Eagle Scout, Girl Scout Gold or Explorer Award in high school. Students must submit proof of the receipt of their award to the Office of University Admissions. These awards are valued at $1,000 per year.

Institutional scholarships and grants are applicable to tuition and, in some cases, fees. The University reserves the right to adjust the financial assistance previously awarded when these awards in combination with other sources of assistance exceed the cost of tuition and fees, including BUT not limited to Veterans Affairs educational benefits, external awards and state scholarships and grants. Undergraduate scholarships and grants are generally awarded for full-time enrollment. The University’s full-time attendance enrollment requirement may be eliminated in cases of qualifying disabilities as deemed appropriate by the Student Access Office. For more information about this waiver of the full-time enrollment requirement, please contact the One-Stop Student Services Center. Note about non-degree, certificate programs or programs not offered at our main Garden City campus: Please consult with the One-Stop Student Services Center about your aid eligibility since this may differ from what is available to students enrolled in programs leading to a degree or those who attend our other locations.
