Study Abroad Aid Information
Planning to study abroad while at Adelphi University? Find out what steps you need to take to qualify for financial aid while studying abroad.
The names of Adelphi students wishing to study abroad will be sent to the Center for International Education no later than 8-weeks prior to departure.
The Center for International Education can provide you with specific information about the process to be followed to receive academic approval to study at or through another university. All students must receive academic approval to study abroad prior to having the One Stop Student Services department determine their eligibility for funding for such study.
Those who filed a FAFSA will receive a revised Financial Assistance Plan after their eligibility has been confirmed. All financial aid will be applied first to charges incurred at Adelphi. If a credit balance is created by the application of financial aid, this credit will be refunded to the student to be used to pay for additional charges such as housing and meals incurred at the host school or transportation. These funds will not be credited to the student’s account until after the last day to drop at Adelphi University, therefore, students should be prepared to pay such expenses ahead of receiving their refund. Students are not guaranteed that their costs for studying abroad will be fully covered by grants or scholarships, and it may be necessary to access additional funds through loans taken by the student or the student’s parent(s).
