The following 2025-2026 scholarship and grant programs are subject to the terms and conditions outlined for each award.

2025-2026 Awards

The Adelphi University Panther Grant is offered to newly admitted full-time undergraduates who begin their studies in fall 2016 or thereafter and who demonstrate financial need. This grant does not have to be repaid to the University. Students are automatically considered for a Panther Grant upon Adelphi’s receipt of the valid processed FAFSA. To ensure maximum eligibility, the FAFSA should be submitted by the priority deadline and any additional requested documentation must be submitted in a timely manner. Eligible students will receive a College Financing Plan stating the amount of the award.

Range of awards: The University will offer Panther Grant awards based upon individual financial circumstances.

Special provisions and renewal criteria: In addition to filing the FAFSA each year by the recommended priority filing date, students must be enrolled full-time (a minimum 12 credits) in a flat rate tuition program leading to a bachelor’s degree and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0.

The Adelphi Advantage Award is offered to full-time incoming first-year students who begin their studies in fall 2020 or thereafter and have participated in the College Credit Advantage Program, Summer Pre-College Program, Hispanic Community Partnership Program or Adelphi Summer Institute in Mathematical Epidemiology (ASIME) as a sophomore, junior, or senior in high school.

Range of awards: This award is $1,000 per year and may be combined with other scholarship and/or grant awards not to exceed tuition and fees.

Special provisions and renewal criteria: Students who participate in more than one program are not eligible to receive multiple Adelphi Advantage Awards. Refer to the Terms and Conditions for Adelphi University Advantage Award.

The annual Panther Academic Success Scholarship for undergraduate studies acknowledges the exceptional achievement of full-time, matriculated undergraduate students who were not eligible for an academic scholarship at the time they were admitted and who have completed at least 30 credits at Adelphi and have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.  

Range of awards: The award is $3,000 per year for those who started in the Fall of 2017 and later.  

Special provisions and renewal criteria: Eligible students must be enrolled full-time (a minimum 12 credits) in a flat rate tuition program leading to a bachelor’s degree and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0. Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Panther Academic Success Scholarship.

For students who have suffered the loss of a parent or guardian, Adelphi University may match the one-time scholarship amount to any qualified Life Lessons Scholarship recipient who is accepted and enrolls at Adelphi.

Adelphi University Athletic Grants are offered to full-time students who demonstrate exceptional ability in the area of athletics. The student’s athletic performance/record is the initial criterion for consideration of this award. Eligible students will receive an Athletic Award letter in addition to a copy of their athletic contract.

Application process: Students must first file an admissions application and are encouraged to file the FAFSA as soon as possible but no later than the priority deadline to ensure maximum eligibility for other sources of financial aid.

Range of awards: Up to full tuition, fees room and board.

Special provisions: Students are encouraged to file the FAFSA each year by the recommended priority filing date. Students must be enrolled full-time (a minimum 12 credits) in a flat rate tuition program leading to a bachelor’s degree, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0, and must not be subject to any disciplinary action.

These awards are offered to full- and part-time students whose individual profiles coincide with specific donor requirements. Adelphi offers a variety of donor scholarships in a number of academic disciplines and on the basis of other factors established by the donor. Donor Scholarships are competitive, vary in amount and are not automatically renewable.

Application process: A completed FAFSA should be submitted as soon as possible but no later than the prior deadline to ensure maximum eligibility. There is no separate application required unless required by the donor.

Range of awards: The University will offer restricted grants and scholarships based upon individual circumstances, donor restrictions and availability of funds.

Special provisions: Eligibility requirements vary with restrictions established by the donor.

Notification: Eligible students will receive a College Financing Plan stating the amount of the award and/or see the funds credited to their student account.

FIRST scholarships are awarded to one full-time incoming first-year student who has participated in the FIRST FRC or FTC programs or who has been a mentor for an FLL team during his or her high school career and at Adelphi are named for Fred Breithut ’49. In 1999, Mr. Breithut brought the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) to Long Island.

Application process: Students are encouraged to first file an admissions application and then complete and file the Fred Breithut FIRST Scholarship application no later than January 1, 2024 to ensure maximum eligibility. An essay and letter of recommendation must also accompany the completed scholarship application form.

Special provisions and Renewal Criteria: Students are encouraged to submit a FAFSA each year and must meet the following minimum standards: continued enrollment in full-time study (minimum 12 credits) in a flat-rate tuition program leading to a bachelor’s degree, the student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and the student must have currently participated in a qualified FIRST program.

Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Scholarship Committee. After filing the FAFSA, a College Financing Plan detailing all financial aid will be mailed to the student.

The Adelphi University/Otto Kahn Music Award is offered to one full-time incoming first-year student who is the recipient of the Otto Kahn Award in Music and who demonstrates exceptional musical talent. Students must declare Music or Music Education as their major and will be required to initially submit a portfolio or audition in this area of concentration.

Application process: Students must first file an admissions application, along with three teacher/instructor recommendations and a completed scholarship application. A FAFSA must be filed as soon as possible but no later than the priority deadline to ensure maximum eligibility. A copy of the Adelphi University/Friends of Oheka Otto Kahn application should be submitted to Adelphi’s Office of University Admissions no later than January 1, 2024 to ensure maximum eligibility.

Range of awards: Award amounts vary and are based upon the individual’s performance or portfolio review, ranging up to $10,000 per year.

Special provisions and Renewal Criteria: Students are encouraged to submit a FAFSA each year by the priority deadline and must meet the following minimum standards: enrollment in full-time study (minimum 12 credits) in a flat-rate tuition program leading to a bachelor’s degree, have a declared major in Music or Music Education, and maintain a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Admissions Committee. After filing the FAFSA and submitting required documents, a College Financing Plan detailing all financial aid will be mailed to the student.

Children or grandchildren of Adelphi alumni are eligible to receive an award up to $1,000. A student must indicate on their application if a parent or grandparent graduated from Adelphi University in order to receive the award.

Application process: You will be automatically considered upon receipt of your complete admissions application listing a parent or grandparent who has graduated from Adelphi. Students are encouraged to file the FAFSA as soon as possible but no later than the priority deadline to ensure maximum eligibility for other sources of financial aid.

Special provisions and Renewal Criteria: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi University Alumni Award.

Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Admission Committee.

The College of Professional and Continuing Studies Grant is offered to students enrolled in College of Professional and Continuing Studies who demonstrate financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA. Students are automatically considered for a College of Professional and Continuing Studies Grant upon Adelphi’s receipt of the valid processed FAFSA. To ensure maximum eligibility, the FAFSA should be submitted by the priority deadline and requested documentation must be submitted in a timely manner. Eligible students will receive a College Financing Plan stating the amount of the award.

Range of awards: The University will offer College of Professional and Continuing Studies Grants based upon individual financial circumstances.

Special provisions and renewal criteria: In addition to filing FAFSA each year by the recommended priority filing date, students must be enrolled in at least half-time study (a minimum of 6 credits) in a non-discounted contractual program and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0.

More than 30 years ago, Timothy Costello—then president of Adelphi University—supported the creation of the ABLE program (now College of Professional and Continuing Studies) to help working adults to obtain their college degrees. Then, as now, the economic climate was uncertain and a college degree was a critical asset for career advancement and a tool to ensure flexibility in an unpredictable job market.

Timothy Costello College of Professional and Continuing Studies Awards—$2,000 per year for full-time students (12 or more credits) and $1,000 per year for part-time (6-11 credits)—are available to all students who begin as College of Professional and Continuing Studies students paying the standard tuition rates. With the introduction of this new award program, more than $1,000,000 of federal, state and institutional grants, as well as Adelphi scholarships, will be awarded to undergraduate full and part-time College of Professional and Continuing Studies students.

Application process: Students are automatically considered for the Timothy Costello College of Professional and Continuing Studies Award upon acceptance to the University. All students are encouraged to file the FAFSA by the priority deadline to ensure maximum eligibility for other sources of financial aid.

Range of awards: These awards are $2,000 per year for full-time (12 or more credits per semester) undergraduate study and $1,000 per year for part-time (6-11 credits per semester) undergraduate study.

Special provisions and Renewal Criteria: This award is not applicable to students enrolled in online programs. Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi University Timothy Costello Award for Full-Time and Part-Time Study.

Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Admissions Committee. After filing the FAFSA, a College Financing Plan detailing all financial aid will be mailed to the student.

Institutional scholarships and grants are applicable to tuition and, in some cases, fees. The University reserves the right to adjust the financial assistance previously awarded when these awards in combination with other sources of assistance exceed the cost of tuition and fees, including BUT not limited to Veterans Affairs educational benefits, external awards and state scholarships and grants. Undergraduate scholarships and grants are generally awarded for full-time enrollment. The University’s full-time attendance enrollment requirement may be eliminated in cases of qualifying disabilities as deemed appropriate by the Student Access Office.
