Adelphi University is here to continue your creative and artistic journey. We’ll help you reach your career goals.

As a teach-out partner for the University of the Arts located just outside of the vibrant artistic hub of New York City, Adelphi wants you to feel supported every step of the way.

That’s why we’ve set up a streamlined path for you to finish your degree in an environment that has a long history of celebrating and cherishing the performing and visual arts.

Featuring a multitude of galleries and performance spaces on campus and home to many well known alumni including Jonathan Larson ‘82 (producer of Rent), the Adelphi community has a strong commitment to ensuring its artists succeed and have opportunities to showcase their creative work to internal and external audiences.

The Adelphi community welcomes you and promises the following for all recognized teach-out agreements:

  • We’ll waive any application or enrollment deposit fee.
  • We’ll accept all credits previously earned and will waive any applicable residency requirement, including any requirements that a certain number of final credit hours be complete at Adelphi.
  • We’ll match your current net cost through a generous financial aid package, ensuring you pay no more in tuition and fees than what you’re currently paying at University of the Arts.
  • We’ll connect you with housing, advising, counseling, and other student support services to ensure your transition is smooth and welcoming.

In addition to the below teach-out agreements, we have more than 50 additional programs that may be of interest to you. Frequently Asked Questions

For students unable to complete their degree at the University of the Arts as planned, Adelphi University provides a student-centered, streamlined process towards degree completion in an environment that values and celebrates the visual and performing arts. Our nationally-ranked programs, focus on affordability and student outcomes, and our inclusive and supportive community will help you succeed in your educational journey.

In November, Standard & Poor’s (S&P), the global leader in financial market intelligence, reaffirmed Adelphi University’s credit rating of A- with a stable outlook after a comprehensive evaluation of the University’s financial health and creditworthiness. This offers an unbiased third-party evaluation of the college’s financial stability. To read more, check out this story recapping the rating.

When an institution plans to close, it must provide its accrediting body, such as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), with a plan for how it will assist students in completing their degrees. These plans outline a shared commitment to serve students with other colleges and universities and are called “teach-out agreements,” ensuring students can continue their studies as seamlessly as possible.

Adelphi signed a teach-out agreement with the University of the Arts for select undergraduate and graduate programs based on our aligned curriculum plans. While students don’t need a teach-out agreement to transfer from a closing college to another college, the agreements offer credit transferability and financial aid guarantees that typically go above and beyond what a student might receive in a typical transfer process.

Students admitted to one of the approved teach-out undergraduate programs are guaranteed to have all credits transfer to the corresponding Adelphi program identified as part of the agreement. Undergraduate students pursuing one of our alternative programs will still have the transfer of their completed credits maximized in accordance with Adelphi’s transfer credit policies.

Students admitted to the approved teach-out graduate program will transfer all completed credits to Adelphi University. Those pursuing alternative programs will work directly with each program director to evaluate which graduate credits may be transferable to their program of choice.

We’ve set up a simple, streamlined application for UArts students looking to complete their undergraduate and graduate degrees at Adelphi University. Access the application now.

After acceptance into Adelphi University, you will be requested to upload your latest bill and a copy of your 2023-2024 University of the Arts financial aid award letter, provided to you by UArts. Through a combination of Adelphi grants and/or scholarships, we will ensure that your financial aid package at Adelphi maintains the same net tuition & fees cost as what you were paying at the University of the Arts. Optional housing and meal plan charges will be incurred at the current Adelphi rates should you choose to live and dine on campus.

Adelphi offers institutional scholarship and grant opportunities. Our goal is to ensure that your financial aid package at Adelphi maintains the net cost paid at the University of the Arts. We’ll utilize institutional funds to meet your previous cost of attendance.

In addition to the undergraduate and graduate programs identified for formal teachout agreements, you’ll notice that Adelphi offers many complementary programs to existing programs of study at UArts.
