Join a small group of your fellow new Panthers for an immersive pre-orientation experience in Adelphi’s amazing backyard—New York City!
This no-cost program is designed with our incoming first-year students who are from out-of-state or upstate New York in mind.
It’s an immersive exploration of the vibrant communities of Garden City, New York City, and surrounding attractions. With this small group, meet your new home away from home—the “city that never sleeps.”
We are no longer accepting applications due to limited openings in this program.

More to See Around NYC
From our main campus in Garden City, students can take the Panther Shuttle to the nearby Nassau Boulevard or Mineola train station to board the Long Island Rail Road for a 30-minute ride straight into New York City’s Penn Station or Grand Central Station at the heart of Manhattan, also known as “the city.” From there, you’re just a short walk from the lights of Times Square and the Broadway theaters, concerts and sporting events at Madison Square Garden and a world of restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen and Koreatown.
New York City is a walking town with plenty of hidden treasures to be found. If the weather’s nice, keep walking north to Columbus Circle, where you’ll find the entrance to Central Park, the Time Warner Center’s indoor shopping mall and the Jazz at Lincoln Center concert halls.
Penn Station and the nearby Port Authority Bus Terminal are also hubs for the city’s expansive subway system, with trains running 24/7—up, down and across the entire city. For a few dollars on a metro card, you can explore our amazing city and jump back on a train home to Adelphi with memories to last a lifetime.
