Culture Cafe with Dr. Sidney Boquiren
Event Actions
The Culture Café Series allows for informal conversations between university students and faculty, staff, or administrators of color over lunch.
The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for students to hear from faculty, staff, and administrators of color about their life experiences, careers, successes and challenges in an intimate setting. All Adelphi community members are welcome to attend the Culture Café series. Join us this month for a conversation with our guest, Dr. Sidney Boquiren, Professor of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences. Professor Boquiren will be sharing his recent musical compositions that focus on the immigrant experience, and engaging attendees on a conversation about creativity and social justice.

Sidney Marquez Boquiren grew up in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. He teaches music theory/composition and directs the Improvisation Ensemble at Adelphi University. His compositions are often informed, influenced, and shaped by contemporary social justice issues; his Catholic faith; and his Philippine identity. He sings with the Ignatian Schola and the choir of The Church of St. Francis Xavier in Manhattan, New York.
Free lunch will be provided for the first 15 attendees. If you plan to attend and have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please email Robby Fahrenholtz (rfahrenholtz@adelphi.edu) with that information so an appropriate meal can be provided.
