Women of Power and Influence: The Case of Victoria Woodhull
Event Actions
University Alumni Relations is proud to announce that we are expanding the Lifelong Learning series.
We are offering a Spring lecture hosted by Dr. Maria Cristina Zaccarini, a professor in the Department of History at Adelphi University.
Victoria Woodhull was not only the first woman to run for president in 1872, but she also had her own newspaper and was both a stock broker and spiritual medium at a time when women most often were denied the right to own property, vote and protect their own bodies. What does it take for women in history to emerge from their circumscribed roles and carve a degree of power and influence? This lecture will explore this question.
Coffee, tea, and cookies will be provided.
Any questions, please contact Jenn Maron ’12, associate director of alumni relations, at jmaron@adelphi.edu.
