Polyamory

Yet at 50-51%, it is undeniable that the divorce rate has both historically been, and remains, quite high. In addition, the vast majority of divorce cases are related to infidelity. Taking this one step further, infidelity is often linked to one’s core needs not being fully met in primary long-term relationships. Is there any real wonder in this? After all, can a host of core needs, including opposing and simultaneous needs for both security and freedom, really be met by any one individual- forever and ever, ‘til death do us part? Monogamy is nothing if it is not ambitious.

This workshop sheds light on Polyamory, a form of Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM), as one of the ways people try to negotiate this relational conflict- often behind closed doors. Emphasis will be placed on looking at the merits and challenges of Polyamory, as well as the relationship between Polyamory, Attachment Style, Trauma, and Transformation.

Dr. Rombone teaches courses in Couples Therapy and Research, Addiction, and Personality. She is faculty at Adelphi University and has completed Level 2 Training in Gottman Therapy.
