In this seminar we will consider various guidelines and approaches to the initial session that enable the therapy to proceed in a useful and satisfying way for the couple.

We shall elucidate which approaches are best for each particular couple. Couples are quite idiosyncratic along with obvious general similarities.  The initial session is important to begin to comprehend the idiosyncratic quality of each couple.

We will also articulate the differences between the initial couple, the current couple and the  future couple. along with the problem with hasty diagnostic assumptions, negotiating Initial countertransference issues based on the couple presenting data, age, and emotional style.
