Why Earn a DSW?

In today’s diverse, globalized world, the social work profession needs advanced practitioners who can develop—and implement—socially just policy and practice. A Doctor of Social Work (DSW) prepares practitioners to become affirming, ethical and effective leaders within a variety of practice settings. When complex problems arise, you’ll have the knowledge, skills and experience to offer solutions at every level, from large-scale national initiatives to those in your local community. Work with agencies, nonprofits, academic institutions and other organizations as a clinician, executive or educator to address urgent social issues and improve communal well-being.

Choose the topic that best reflects your strengths, passions and objectives, then complete either a written paper or a program proposal with a grant application. This project will help you hone your clinical expertise and your leadership and administrative skills, as well as your social work practice at multiple levels of intervention.
