Freedom of Expression in the American Political System
Event Actions
During this Freedom of Expression Week discussion, we will delve into the vital role that political speech plays in American democracy.
Join Gary Greaves, adjunct professor of political science, as we explore questions like:
- What defines political speech, and why is it protected?
- What limits exist on those protections?
Attendees will gain insight into the crucial role of the press, examine whether it is fulfilling its democratic responsibilities, and compare how political speech is regulated in the United States versus other nations.
This event is part of Adelphi University’s Freedom of Expression Week Symposium, hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA), and the Division of Student Affairs, in collaboration with The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and Voices for Liberty.
