Anti-war veteran creatively, openly and honestly shares their experience of time in the U.S. military

“‘We Are Not Your Soldiers’ has been scheduling anti-war veterans into classroom visits since 2006 via ‘World Can’t Wait’ project, since 2008. We aim, through this deep engagement, to clarify for some students why they should not join up, and for all students to develop an understanding and a desire to seek further information that challenges the official U.S. narrative on these endless wars of aggression.” (from organization’s materials) Brittany Ramos DeBarros was formerly deployed to Afghanistan. Presenter creatively, openly and honestly shares their experiences of time in the U.S. military.

This event is free. Everyone is welcome.

When I signed up for the military I was a bright and diligent student who believed I fully understood what I was getting myself into. Deploying to Afghanistan opened my eyes and now I feel strongly that young people deserve a chance to ask their questions and get answers from someone who is invested in sharing true experiences and honest answers rather than trying to recruit them. I consider it both an honor and a responsibility to engage in those conversations whenever possible.”
