“Adelphi taught me how to be a leader, and to never stop fighting for the things I believe in,” he said. “It also taught me the importance of working hard to achieve my goals while having fun, keeping a great headspace and maintaining my relationships.”

Dr. Singla chose Adelphi University because of its stellar reputation and vibrant campus culture. “Being local [growing up in Roslyn Heights, New York], I had the opportunity to observe these things firsthand by visiting the campus many times before attending,” he said. His decision to enroll was reinforced by his positive experiences with the faculty and the University’s diverse academic offerings.

Two classes served to both challenge him academically and encourage his academic pursuits: Modern Condition with Martin Haas, associate professor, and Biochemistry with Professor Brian Stockman, PhD. However, it was his research work with Andrea Ward, PhD, associate provost for research and special projects, that had the most significant impact on his professional aspirations. “Dr. Ward was my most important mentor at Adelphi,” Dr. Singla recalled.

After graduating in 2016, Dr. Singla pursued his passion for dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Following four rigorous years of study, he completed a one-year residency at the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Dr. Singla began his professional career as a general dentist at a private practice in West Philadelphia. After a year, he transitioned to another private practice in South Philadelphia, where he currently works as an associate general dentist. Reflecting on his career trajectory, Dr. Singla noted, “I plan to open my own practice in the near future.”

One of Dr. Singla’s proudest accomplishments at Adelphi was founding the University’s first a cappella group. “Looking back, some of my fondest memories were associated with founding Paws and Rewind,” he shared. This initiative not only showcased his leadership skills but also enriched the campus culture.

Dr. Singla’s advice to current students and new graduates reflects his proactive and optimistic approach. “You will get out of Adelphi what you put in,” he advised. He encouraged students to immerse themselves in activities they are passionate about and to create new opportunities if they don’t already exist. For new graduates, he stressed the importance of knowing one’s worth and pursuing a fulfilling career.
