Indigenous Peoples’ Day New York City
Event Actions
On Monday, October 9th, Adelphi will recognize Indigenous Peoples Day for the first time. The Multicultural Center and the Office of Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging invite the Adelphi Community to take advantage of this break from classes to attend the Indigenous Peoples’ Day New York City celebration on Randall’s Island. This celebration will honor the traditions, history, and culture of the Lenape People and the other indigenous tribes who are the traditional stewards of the land now known as New York City and Long Island as well as the indigenous cultures of the rest of the lands now known as North and Central American and the Caribbean.
A bus will be available to Community members wishing to attend the event. The bus will depart from the University Center at 10:00 AM and will depart the event at 2:30 PM following the conclusion of the day’s activities. Please complete the RVSP through MyAULife to let us know you plan to take the bus. Free parking is also available at the event for those wishing to take their own transportation. Public transit is also available through the MTA, though is not recommended.
