Dear Adelphi Community,

Our senior leadership and I are heartbroken and angered by the tragic events in Buffalo, New York, over the weekend. We grieve with the victims’ families and friends and their communities.

It is deeply troubling that violent hate crimes have become commonplace. We explicitly condemn white supremacy and violence of any kind. We will continue to denounce and fight bigotry and hatred in all its forms in our community and beyond.

Despite some societal inroads, events such as the shooting in our neighboring community of Buffalo–and other deadly shootings in the country this past week and year–make it clear that so much still needs to be done.

Here at Adelphi, we will continue the work necessary to advance our goals of diversity, equity, inclusion, non-violence, and respect for all.

We are committed to being part of the solution, and we stand against all forms of hate.

All the best,
Chris
