Be The Match Registry at New York Blood Center

Over the past 30 years, Be The Match has managed the world’s largest donor registry. They have connected patients with blood cancers and other diseases (i.e. sickle cell) with genetically matched volunteer donors who are willing to donate life-saving blood stem cells. The genetic markers used to match patients and donors are inherited, so patients are more likely to match someone who shares their ethnic background.
