LCP Workshop: Road to Resilience

Students and emerging leaders who learn about resilience and utilize the skills taught in the resilience workshop are able to build their emotional fortitude and better cope with life’s inevitable challenges. This is a workshop that utilizes both didactic and experiential learning opportunities, through the use of lecture, video, PowerPoint and group process work. My original workshop has been presented to hundreds of students, faculty and staff at Adelphi University

About the Presenter:
Dr. Josh Altman has worked in the mental health field for over 10 years. He has served as a therapist to hundreds of teens, young adults and their families. His roles have also included adjunct professor, clinical supervisor to other therapists, and consultant to tech companies, entrepreneurs, and athletes. In addition to counseling, Dr. Altman developed a customized program that helps clients develop resilience, focus, and emotional fortitude. He has lectured at preparatory schools, colleges and law schools throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Dr. Altman trained and received his Master’s degree at New York University Silver School of Social Work. He completed internships at Phoenix House’s IMPACT Outpatient Program in New York City where he counseled teens and their families as they sought to acquire the valuable skills necessary to sustain healthy recovery from alcohol and substance misuse. Dr. Altman’s advanced internship was at the Saint Vincent Hospital Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic, New York, NY.
Dr. Altman received his doctorate at the Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, Massachusetts where he also served as a lecturer and adjunct instructor. He has worked at outpatient mental health centers and colleges where he served as a therapist and supervisor. Today he serves as the associate director of a college counseling center at a major university in the New York area. Dr. Altman also maintains a private practice with offices located in Garden City, Long Island N.Y. and Riverdale, Bronx N.Y.
