Hudson Valley Students were successful at Lobby Day as the budget bill passed for the expansion of New York’s Social Work Loan Forgiveness Program.
Hudson Valley Students, along with social work students from around the state, were successful at Lobby Day as the budget bill passed for the expansion of New York’s Social Work Loan Forgiveness Program. The expansion includes an additional $250,000 appropriation in the Aid to Localities Budget Bill to be administered by the Higher Education Services Corporation; the addition of home care to the currently identified critical human service areas of health, mental health, substance abuse, aging, HIV/AIDS and child welfare; and an agreement to re-examine the current formula used in determining high need counties, the details of which will be forthcoming.
