The award is given to those who display outstanding leadership in advancing Holocaust studies and interfaith understanding
Adelphi University president Robert A. Scott will receive the Raoul Wallenberg Humanitarian Leadership Award from the Center for Holocaust Studies at Ramapo College at a November 1 ceremony at the Sheraton Crossroads Hotel in New Jersey.
The award is bestowed on individuals who have displayed outstanding leadership in advancing Holocaust studies and interfaith understanding. Previous recipients have included New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, United States Senator Robert G. Torricelli and, last year, New Jersey State Board of Education President Maud Dahme.
Before becoming Adelphi’s ninth president this past July, Robert A. Scott was president of Ramapo College for sixteen years, during which time he raised the school’s academic reputation and added significantly to its infrastructure and financial footing. The award committee cites him for being uniquely sensitive and outspoken on issues involving the Holocaust, genocide, racism, and anti-Semitism.
