Adelphi forum discusses how voting results effect the business and professional communities on Long Island.
The Adelphi University Robert B. Willumstad School of Business begins a series of ongoing forums with The 2012 Election is Over — Now What?, coordinated by Visiting Professor and Senior Executive-in-Residence Michael J. Driscoll M.B.A. ’89. The inaugural program will discuss the effects of the recent presidential election, its influence on business and professional communities of Long Island and the nation. It takes place on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the Campbell Lounge, Center for Recreation and Sports, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. This event is free and open to the public.
Joining Professor Driscoll for this event will be alumnus, Thomas J. Donohue M.B.A. ’65. Donohue has been president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce since 1997. During his tenure, the Chamber’s lobbyists, policy experts, legal advocates, and communicators have helped secure business victories on Capitol Hill, in the regulatory agencies, in politics, in courts of law and in the court of public opinion, and before governments around the world.

Thomas McGinn, MD, chair of medicine at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and LIJ Medical Center; he is a professor of medicine and chairman of the Department of Medicine at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine at Hofstra University.
Thomas Higgins, JP Morgan Chase’s head of operational control and chair of their Military and Veterans Affairs Advisory Council; he worked with the U.S. Government for 24 years and is a U.S. Navy veteran.
Adelphi University Board of Trustees Chairman Robert B. Willumstad ’05 (Hon.) co-founder of the private equity firm Brysam Global Partners completes the panel. Willumstad is the former non-executive chairman and CEO of American International Group (AIG), and he helped shape some of the nation’s leading financial services companies, including Travelers Group and its successor, Citigroup. He serves as a director of S.C. Johnson, Inc., as well as a trustee of the American-Scandinavian Foundation.
Moderator, Michael J. Driscoll is a 28-year veteran of Wall Street and is regularly quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, National Public Radio, TheStreet.com, Forbes.com, and Voice of America, among others. Prior to joining Adelphi University’s Willumstad School of Business in April 2010, Driscoll was one of the founding members and head of trading at Geosphere Capital LLC, a hedge fund focused on global natural resources and industrials with assets that reached $1.5 billion in 2008. He also served as senior managing director on Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc.’s NYSE-listed trading desk, primarily responsible for trading securities in the global energy and domestic aerospace and defense sectors.
