The lecture, free and open to the public, will take place on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., in the Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom of the Ruth S. Harley University Center. Driscoll is a visiting professor and senior executive-in-residence with the Adelphi University School of Business.

Michael J. Driscoll is a 28-year veteran of Wall Street and is regularly quoted in the Wall Street JournalNew York Times, National Public Radio, TheStreet.com, Forbes.com, and Voice of America, among others. Driscoll has held various positions during his career with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette/Credit Suisse-First Boston, Hambrecht & Quist, Smith Barney, Prudential-Bache Securities, and E.F. Hutton & Company. Prior to joining Adelphi University’s School of Business in April 2010, Driscoll was one of the founding members and head of trading at Geosphere Capital LLC, a hedge fund focused on global natural resources and industrials with assets that reached $1.5 billion in 2008. He also served as senior managing director on Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc.’s NYSE-listed trading desk, primarily responsible for trading securities in the global energy and domestic aerospace and defense sectors.

A dedicated alumnus, Driscoll helped kick off Adelphi’s first-ever C.O.A.C.H. (Count on Alumni for Career Help) event, to give students direct access to industry leaders. He also played a role in transforming a classroom into a trading room outfitted with seven Bloomberg terminals, named after James Riley, Jr., a retired Goldman Sachs partner, which gives Adelphi students a practical and in-depth understanding of the things that shape the world of finance.

Started in 2003 through a generous contribution from Amy Hagedorn ’05 (Hon.) and Miracle-Gro founder, the late Horace Hagedorn ’01 (Hon.), Adelphi’s annual Hagedorn Lecture Series on Corporate Social Responsibility enables the University to invite prominent speakers to address pressing issues of the day. The series supports the University’s goal for creating a culture of conscience among students, faculty, staff, administrators, and local community members. Previous speakers include: Robert. B Willumstad ’05 (Hon.), Stephen Heintz, Thomas J. Donahue M.B.A. ’65, Noreen Harrington ’81, Arthur Levitt and David Boies.
