B.B.A. Business Administration
Kristin Martin ’07, a student enrolled in the business management program at Adelphi University, says that because student success is a top priority to faculty and staff, she has benefited from the program more than she ever could have expected.
After receiving her associate’s degree in business administration at Suffolk Community College, Kristin chose to further her education by pursuing a bachelor’s of business administration at Adelphi.
Besides attending classes at the School of Business, the Commack resident is employed with Ameriprise Financial in Hauppauge. She hopes to utilize her degree by working within New York City’s financial sector. When not working and attending classes, Kristin serves as president of the Future Alumni Leaders Association (FALA). An active member since November 2006, Kristin has attended alumni events organized through the C.O.A.C.H. (Count on Alumni for Career Help) Program, which pairs current students with alumni employed in their chosen fields in order to gain valuable career advice.
She says the faculty’s firsthand knowledge of the business world is valuable to business students. “Instructors hold students to a high educational standard,” says Kristin. She combines her learning experiences in her academic program with her current job at Ameriprise Financial, where she updates client profiles and arranges for meetings between customers and financial advisors. The information and lesson plans taken from classes such as “Managerial Finance” and “Analytical and Statistical Modeling” have been beneficial to her current work performance. “By choosing Adelphi, I have provided myself with an advantage that will be worthwhile to my career goals at present and in the future,” she says.
