On February 29, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Garden City police investigated a report of a female walking on South Avenue at Whitehall Boulevard when a white pick-up truck pulled up to her and the male driver made two hand motions to her to get in the vehicle.
On February 29, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Garden City police investigated a report of a female walking on South Avenue at Whitehall Boulevard when a white pick-up truck pulled up to her and the male driver made two hand motions to her to get in the vehicle. The windows to the vehicle were closed, however the driver appeared to be saying “get in”. When the female walked away, the vehicle left the scene eastbound on South Avenue without further incident. Anyone with further information is requested to call the Garden City Detective Division at 516-465-4108.

The driver is described as a male/white with dark hair in his thirties, wearing a white tee-shirt.

- Use your cell phone. Make sure it’s charged before you leave home and coordinate with a friend if you need to text him or her for a “friend-assist.”
- If you see something, say something! Intervene if you see a situation that seems risky to someone’s safety. By stepping up you can possibly prevent a crime. Also, don’t be afraid to call school security.
- Be aware of your surroundings. Whether you’re walking home from the library or at a party, be mindful of potential risks. Get to know your campus or neighborhood and learn a well-lit walking or driving routes. Think of a safe exit strategy. Are there people around who might be able to help you?
