Adelphi University has appointed Jodie Sperico as executive director of alumni relations who will spearhead the University's efforts to engage with alumni worldwide.
Following a national search, Adelphi University has appointed Jodie Sperico as executive director of alumni relations. She will spearhead the University’s efforts to engage, support and involve Adelphi’s more than 100,000 alumni worldwide. Sperico will officially start the position on May 31, 2017.
“Sperico is innovative, a gifted leader and an alumni relations professional of the highest caliber,” said Christine M. Riordan, Ph.D., president of Adelphi University. “She is widely known in the field as a dedicated and talented colleague.”
At Adelphi, Sperico will be responsible for creating and managing initiatives and programs to engage alumni nationally. She will also lead and expand the Alumni Council, oversee the creation of a Student Alumni Council, manage alumni communications and direct planning for the first-ever Spirit Weekend on campus.
For the last six years, Sperico led alumni relations at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, most recently as senior director since 2015. Her work encompassed managing volunteer boards, including 200 senior volunteers; creating a mentoring program for students with professional mentors; managing all alumni communications; developing educational programs; and planning reunion, donor recognition and special event activities.
Prior to her work at Hofstra, Sperico served for seven years as director of alumni relations at the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. While at Catholic University, Sperico launched the first alumni online community and engaged volunteers for regional chapter leadership and the Young Alumni Society leadership and as admissions ambassadors.
In addition, Sperico was the senior volunteer relations coordinator for CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education), where she worked with volunteers and staff for appointed commissions, district conferences and national meetings. She has been a judge for the CASE Circle of Excellence Awards and a speaker at CASE district conferences.
She holds an M.S.Ed. degree in higher education administration leadership and policy studies from Hofstra University and a B.A. degree in speech communications from Ithaca College. Sperico resides in Wantagh, New York.
