As part of the larger Adelphi Votes event, Hauppauge Center students were involved with registering a total of 65 new registrants and pledged that they spoke to over 75 people about the importance of voting. If they registered three new voters and completed a pledge about voter engagement, they received an Adelphi School of Social Work Hauppauge Center T-shirt.
Many of our students were already registered themselves, so being the social workers in training that they are, they went out into the community and registered people at their work and field instruction and with their friends and family. They also engaged in outreach for voter registration to traditionally underrepresented populations and non-English speaking registrants among that pool of registrants.
We are very proud of our students’ efforts. We are also planning a voting returns party on election day, November 8, and are going to watch the results here at the Hauppauge Center from 6:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
We thank all of these awesome students have all participated in our Fall Voter Registration Rush:
