Adelphi Manhattan Center social work student Eve Cardona is featured in the best-selling magazine.
O, The Oprah Magazine recently featured three women who have benefited from Dress for Success, the nonprofit that provides interview clothing and accessories as well as training and mentoring to job-seeking women. One of the three women was Eve Cardona, a B.S.W. student at Adelphi’s Manhattan Center.
According to the story, Cardona, a community associate and team leader at a municipal housing agency in New York City, first got involved in Dress for Success six years ago and joined its Professional Women’s Group.
“It’s served as a support to remind me of my worth and how resilient I am,” she told O magazine. “Clothes are a material item, but when you wear a nice outfit, you feel empowered.”
Andrew Peters, director of Adelphi’s Manhattan Center social work program, taught Cardona in a first-semester social work practice course. He commented that, “Eve came to Adelphi ready to hit the ground running based on her life experiences. She was delightful to have as a student based on her intelligence and enthusiasm.”
