Newsday covers the Adelphi women's lacrosse team and its prospects for a third straight national title.
Even in the preseason, Adelphi’s women’s lacrosse team is gaining media attention. In a February 11, 2016, article, “Adelphi, LIU Post Lead Area Division II, III Women’s Lacrosse,” Newsday’s Mike Gavin interviewed some of the players and the coach about the team’s recent dominance–two consecutive NCAA Division II national titles–and its prospects for 2016.
Goalkeeper Taylor Hayes told Gavin, ““I like to think if I can get through a two-hour practice, I can get through anything.”
Gavin explained: “Reason being, in practice, she faces some of the best players in Division II. Players that are on a mission to help Adelphi capture a third consecutive national championship.”
Newsday also spoke to coach Pat McCabe, who praised his players, and to Jackie Jahelka, a junior who plays attack. She told Newsday, “Coach wants us to play at our own speed, which is so fast that opposing defenders can’t even keep up with us.”
