Challenging and supporting students to reach goals. Academic advisement is central to the educational mission of Adelphi University.

Advisement for undergraduates is a continuous process that begins with first-year registration and culminates in graduation. It challenges and supports students as they examine, determine, and achieve their educational goals, and encourages students to take ownership of their intellectual journey.

Adelphi undergraduates have many sources for academic advice—faculty advisers, academic advisers in the Offices of the Deans of their School- or College, and the Office of Academic Services and Retention. Every student that enters Adelphi is assigned an academic adviser, and each full-time member of the faculty holds a minimum of four office hours per week to serve the interests of students and to provide full and accurate academic advice. In addition, the Office of Pre-Professional Advising and Fellowships counsels students who are interested in pursuing law, medicine- and other health professionals, engineering, etc.

While all students must have their schedule approved by their adviser before they can register, course selection is just one part of the advising process.
